Prototypes for Participants
If you haven’t already, download the Balsamiq mockups for participants and volunteers.
Requirement: The application needs to provide a secure and safe platform for participants to communicate with their peer volunteer without providing too much personal information.
The application provides an “in-app” chat function which allows participants and volunteers to communicate securely. There is a messages page, accessed by the bottom menu, which will take the user to their messages and also provide potential matches. The potential matches are other users that have “liked” the participant or volunteer. The participant or volunteer will be able to choose whether or not they would like to match with the potential matches. A match is only made if both parties have “liked” each other and then a new chat is started. The application will provide notifications when a new message or match has been received. There is no need to provide a phone number or any personal information.

Requirement: The application needs to filter out volunteers who are there for the wrong reasons to make participants feel safe.
The admins will be responsible for filtering out volunteers and participants who are there for the wrong reasons. Upon signing up, you will need to wait to be approved before you are able to login. After signing up, there will be a “Thank you for signing up” page with further instructions. The user will then receive an email with a time to meet with a UVHS staff member to determine if the program is the right fit. If the UVHS staff determine the program is right for the participant or volunteer, the participant or volunteer will be able to login to the application using the email and password they set up when they signed up for the program.

Requirement: The application needs to match volunteers to participants based on availability, goals, gender identity, interests, etc.
The home screen when the user logs in shows their potential matches, and allows them to select them. They can then view their profile and make a decision to accept or reject with a thumbs up or down button. A profile button is provided in the bottom menu to allow the users to change details about them. The user’s profiles contain the necessary info, including first name, age, gender, interests, goals and program. Last name and student number are provided in the sign up form but not in the profile page.
